An alarm panel on its own is just a box on a wall. It’s the devices connected to it that do the work. The SmartArx accessories below are built specifically for our locally developed Icon Advance and Icon 8 panels. Here’s what each one does.
SmartArx Keypad
The SmartArx Keypad is a wired 5″ colour touchscreen that provides comprehensive control of your SmartArx alarm system through a single interface. It functions like a typical keypad for arming and disarming, but also allows users and installers to access system programming directly. This includes adding or removing sensors and users, configuring partitions and modes, bypassing zones, and viewing stored event logs, all from the keypad.
Suitable for residential, estate, commercial, and industrial installations, live zone status and zone trigger indicators keep you updated on system activity in real time, and you can also view and control multiple partitions at once. Outputs such as gates and outdoor lights can be managed directly from the keypad, while over-the-air firmware updates keep the unit up to date.
For control beyond the keypad, the SmartArx Mobile App provides full system management to your phone from anywhere.
SmartArx Passive Infrared (PIR)
Detecting movement by identifying changes in infrared heat signatures, the SmartArx PIR sends an immediate wireless signal to the Icon Advance or Icon 8 panel the moment it triggers, initiating the alarm response configured for that zone and mode.
Two-way communication between the PIR and the panel runs continuously, confirming the device is present and communicating at all times. The battery lasts up to two years. If the battery runs low or communication is lost, the system automatically detects it and notifies your phone via the SmartArx Alarm Manager app.
SmartArx Door Guard
The SmartArx Door Guard monitors access points, including doors, gates, gate motors, and similar entry points. When an access point opens, it immediately transmits a signal to the Icon Advance or Icon 8, triggering the alarm response set for that zone.
A built-in panic button allows for manual emergency activation. Two-way supervision runs continuously, with battery status automatically reported when the battery is low. Every open and close event is confirmed in real time, providing a full audit trail for each monitored access point.
The Door Guard also has a programmable output that lets you trigger gates, doors, lights, and connected devices directly from the SmartArx Alarm Manager app, making it useful beyond alarm triggering alone.
SmartArx Power Supply
Every alarm system needs a reliable power source, and the SmartArx Power Supply is built for South African conditions. It charges a 7Ah 12V lead-acid battery at up to 1.5A, with built-in low battery protection and automatic startup when mains power is restored. No manual intervention is required after a power outage or load-shedding event.
A dedicated mains signal output keeps the alarm panel informed of power status at all times. The unit is built to handle voltage surges, unstable utility supply, and temperature extremes. Battery health and charging conditions are monitored continuously. If the battery fails or falls outside acceptable parameters, the SmartArx multi-communication platform immediately issues a warning.
